Planetbeing Mentions The “Dream Team” Is Out Of Sandbox, iPhone 4S/iPad 2 Jailbreak One Step Closer

One of the largest issues that seemed to be present in the iPhone 4S and iPad 2 Untethered Jailbreak was sandbox errors. In case you are not aware, in the coding world, a sandbox refers to running code in a restricted security environment to limit the access permissions granted to the code. It was due to these sandbox errors that Pod2G needed to recruit additional hackers to help him bring the iPhone 4S and iPad 2 iOS 5.0.1 Untethered Jailbreak into a publicly releasable state.

With hackers like MuscleNerd, Planetbieng, P0sixninja and even Saurik by Pod2G’s side they have successfully gotten out of the sandbox! The news comes from Planetbeing who has recently tweeted, for nearly the first time in a couple of years, to alert the Jailbreaking community of this achievement.

He mentions that thanks to Saurik’s contribution to the cause they have successfully gotten out of of Sandbox. One other interesting detail mentioned by Planetbeing is that getting out of sandbox turned out to be more complex than exploiting the iPhone 4/iPad 2 baseband “X-Gold 618“. While this is some great news there is unfortunately no proposed ETA on the release of the iPhone 4S and iPad 2 Untethered Jailbreak.

We will keep you updated when more details of this iPhone 4S and iPad 2 Untethered Jailbreak is available. Until that time please stay tuned and leave any questions or thoughts in the comments section below…

I’m a little worried here… if the jailbreaks are harder and harder to make, will the next generation of ipad/iphone/etc., with even faster processors, be more difficult to jailbreak? Are we looking at the last of the jailbreaks?

With each new version of OS there will be new bugs in the code to exploit.  Even if Apple come up with a single version with no bugs to exploit, the very next one may well do.  Even a very simple fix to a very simple bug can introduce unknown effects that lead to a usable exploit.

Jailbreak life cycle is going to end soon!

    1- in-app purchases
    2- horrible sand boxing
3- coming soon half of our ios will be on the cloud,,, just like the chrome book which means you actually don’t have but the other significantly useless part of the iOS which if altered will not work with the on-cloud part .
If that’s not true well Apple here is your ideal project work on it.

If this is the last JB…once I do get it, I likely will never upgrade again…unless of course APple really knocks our socks off.

What people seem to miss is that jailbreaking is good for apple as in the hype it generates.
What other device is talk about more on the net.
I personally think that apple will always make it possible to jailbreak there devices.
If apple wanted there devices could very easily come with software to personalise for you.
But then it would just be another phone or tablet on the market.
