MyAssistant Cydia Tweak Updated To Version 1.1.1 With New Features

The MyAssistant Cydia tweak will supercharge Siri with a ton of new functionality! With the MyAssistant Cydia tweak installed you can use any Activator event you can think of with the power of voice activation. Perform SBSettings like toggles with Siri, launch applications, take screenshots, and even create custom Siri conversations.

With a recent update of the MyAssistant Cydia tweak being released bringing MyAssistant to version 1.1.1 you can now do even more with Siri! In this new update comes the ability to open any app with Siri by saying launch and then the apps name. You can send a tweet by simply speaking tweet and you can even dismiss Siri with a command of your choice. MyAssistant 1.1.1 also comes with numerous bug fixes and overall makes things more stable.

How To: Get Your Money Back From The Apple App Store

A couple of days ago we told you about an application that made its way into the App Store called Pokemon Yellow, which actually turned out to be a scam. This is definitely not the first time an application of this nature has made its way into the App Store and furthermore it is without a doubt there are applications in the App Store that are down-right disappointing and falsely marketed. If you have ever asked yourself, “how can I get my money from the App Store” then you will be glad to know iJailbreak.com has an answer for you.

Yes, there is a way to get your money back for an application purchased from the Apple App Store, as pointed out by Gizmodo, but the process has been known to be lengthy from the time you make your claim to the time you actually get your refund. Another thing to keep in mind is that in Apple’s iTunes policy it is stated that all sales are final. This means that the only way you are going to get your money back is if the application really is fake (a scam) or is falsely marketed. Lastly, keep in mind that the process we are about to show you is not for an application you bought, are now bored of, and want a refund.

How To Get An App Store Refund

Step 1) - Launch iTunes, login and then click the arrow next to your Apple ID. When you see a drop down menu you will need to select the Account option.

Step 2) – Now you should see a Purchase History section and a link that says See All, click this link now.

Step 3) – You will now see a list of all purchased products from iTunes. Find the application you would like a refund for and click the grey arrow next to it.

Step 4) – From this next screen you will need to click the Report A Problem button, and then the Report A Problem link next to the application you would like a refund for.

Step 5) – You are now on the most important step. You will need to select one of the six categories for your app complaint and then write a detailed reason (detailed being the key word here) on why you should be entitled to a refund. When you are done simply click the Submit button and wait for an Apple representative to get back to you.

Back To The Basics: Having Troubles Finding Cydia Tweaks? [Issue #1]

It seems like whenever we write about a brand new Cydia tweak we get a comment that is along the lines of “I can’t find the tweak through Cydia.” Though to all experienced Jailbreakers there is an obvious answer(s) to this question, for people who are new to the Jailbreaking scene this is a legitimate question. In fact, with the iPhone 4S being Jailbroken Untethered there is bound to be numerous people who are new to the Jailbreaking scene with questions they want answering.

That is why I have decided to start a new series here on iJailbreak.com called Back To The Basics. During this series we will be covering some of the questions we have been receiving on a variety of topics to do with Jailbreaking or Apple iOS products in general.

Note: For next weeks edition you can email us at questions@ijailbreak.com and we may pick your question to talk about in the next issue of Back To The Basics.

There could be numerous reasons why you can’t find a Cydia tweak that we are talking about here on iJailbreak.com. The most obvious answer would be that you simply need to refresh your sources. When you refresh your sources, what you are doing (essentially) is contacting the main community sources and any other sources you may have added for an updated list of Cydia tweaks they have on file.

Often times if you see a Cydia tweak on the front page of iJailbreak.com it was only just released. Thus, if you haven’t let Cydia refresh its sources for a little while, then this will be the reason you cannot find a certain Cydia tweak. In order to fetch for the latest Cydia tweaks on file you will need to go into Cydia’s Changes tab and simply click the Refresh button. When you click the Refresh button you will need to be patient and wait for Cydia to finishing contacting your sources (do not interrupt or cancel the process).

Another reason that you may not be able to find a Cydia tweak is because it is not from a community source (sources that are present with Cydia’s installation). If this is the case then you will need to figure out what source the Cydia tweak is from (we will always tell you if a Cydia tweak requires an external source) and add it to Cydia. This can be done by going into the Manage Tab, Sources Section and then clicking the Edit button followed by the Add button.

The final reason (and most obvious reason) that you may not be able to find a specific Cydia tweak is because it is was removed. This could be due to numerous reasons such as the Cydia tweak being outdated or the tweak could have infringed on someones copyright. I would say 99% of the time however, that if you cannot find a Cydia tweak it is because of one of the two reasons explained prior.

Close Siri Using Only Your Voice With The DismissSiri Cydia Tweak

A new Cydia tweak called DissmissSiri will allow you to actually close Siri with your voice. This is useful for those of you with a broken home button or for those who are using a hands-free device while driving (for example). Another nice aspect to DissmissSiri is that you do not need to abide by a single generic word to close Siri — you can pick from a list of three! Once you download and install DismissSiri to your iPhone 4S or older generation iOS device with Spire you can simply go into the Settings.app, DismissSiri tab and select a word such as Cancel, Dismiss or Close to actually close Siri.

The Beatles today announced that they are releasing many of their hits to the iTunes Store as ringtones.

Beginning today, fans around the world can, for the first time, purchase ringtones for the Beatles’ 27 UK and US #1 hits, exclusively on iTunes.

The 30-second ringtones are priced at $1.29 each and include: “Love Me Do”, “From Me to You”, “She Loves You”, “I Want To Hold Your Hand”, “Can’t Buy Me Love”, “A Hard Day’s Night”, “I Feel Fine”, “Eight Days a Week”, “Ticket to Ride”, “Help!”, “Yesterday”, “Day Tripper”, “We Can Work It Out”, “Paperback Writer”, “Yellow Submarine”, “Eleanor Rigby”, “Penny Lane”, “All You Need Is Love”, “Hello, Goodbye”, “Lady Madonna”, “Hey Jude”, “Get Back”, “The Ballad of John and Yoko”, “Something”, “Come Together”, “Let It Be”, and “The Long and Winding Road”

iTunes Enhancements Roll Out For Japanese Store

We have seen Apple meticulously update their iTunes Store with new features such as iTunes U, iBooks 2 and iTunes Match. More recently Apple has updated their Japanese iTunes Store with some new enhancements adding some much needed features to the store. The new additions include:

3G Downloads: Downloading purchases from the iTunes Store was restricted to WiFi only, but now content can be downloaded via 3G networks
iTunes Plus: The Japanese iTunes Store now supports the DRM-free 256 kbps iTunes Plus format, up from the previous 128 kbps versions which carry restrictions. This upgrade comes from the labels, so it may be awhile before all music will be available in this new format
Ringtones: Music ringtones are now available for purchase in the Japanese iTunes Store
Mastered for iTunes: This is rolling out on a worldwide basis, Apple is now featuring songs and albums which have been mastered for the iTunes Store to provide the best sound quality for the format
Complete My Album: Users who have previously purchased individual songs from an album can now purchase the entire album for a discount price based upon credit received from the individually downloaded tracks

Watch The ABC ‘Trip To The iFactory’ Documentary [VIDEO]

Yesterday, we told you about ABC’s Nightline inside look of Apple’s Foxconn factories in China. They previewed a short trailer and put up some images of what the show would look like. It aired last night and if for some reason, you weren’t able to watch it, you can do so now.

The 15 min documentary about the life inside Apple’s factory was titled, ‘iFactory: Inside Apple’ and it showcased the conditions of the workers and the factory. There’s no compulsion that you must watch it, but if you want to know a little bit more about how, where and in what conditions your dear iDevices are assembled, then you should.

Twitter App For iOS Updated With Swipe Shortcuts, Tap To Copy Text And More

Twitter for iOS has been updated and it gets back some of the previously removed features that its users missed. The last update that the app received took away some of its features instead of giving it new ones. This new update, not only brings back those removed features, but also adds new ones.

With version 4.1, Twitter brings back the swipe shortcuts and also the copy/paste of text using long hold. The swipe shortcuts let you reply, retweet and open tweets without the need to leave the timeline. The copy/paste of text feature is also back, which lets you use the inbuilt iOS long hold technique to copy and paste text in tweets. Also coming with the new update are improvements in direct message, bug fixes and many others.

Skype For iOS Gets An Update: Improved Design And Bug Fixes

Skype is the latest iOS app to get a minor design overhaul and other small changes. These changes, however, are the reason that iOS apps get along with the latest firmware updates. Skype is one of the best apps on iOS that lets you make video calls and have conversations with your friends and family.

With the latest update, Skype on iOS gets a new chat interface that looks much better than before. Even the dialpad gets design improvements. Overall the app is a little bit faster. There’s also some various bug fixes in the latest version 3.7 that help improve the app. Apart from that, stability improvements for iOS 5 can also be seen.

Change Notification Sounds For Apps With PushTone Cydia Tweak

Recently, we told you about an awesome Cydia tweak called iSounds that lets you change the basic iOS sounds to something different. Inspired from the same tweak, probably, here’s another one that lets you add different notification tones for various apps.

PushTone is a new Cydia tweak that lets you add new tones for various apps in the Notifications Center. There are not enough sounds in iOS to be applied to all the different apps that you may have installed. For example, you may want to have a different sound for notifications from Whatsapp and a different one set for Messages. If you’re looking for something of that sort, then this is the tweak for you.

iOS has a powerful ringtone library. But It only could be used to system apps, like phone.message.etc. And also some apps don’t have a notification sound. All the notifications sound the same, you can’t tell the one which you care. With this tweak, you can select a sound from ringtone library for every push-enabled app.

To change and add different notification sounds, head over to the Notification Center settings and select the app whose sounds you want to change. You’ll see a new PushTone option added at the bottom of the page. Select that and choose your sound.

IconRotator Cydia Tweak Rotates SpringBoard Icons With Your iPhone, iPad And iPod Touch

Sometimes, a simple Cydia tweak can make a huge difference to your iOS device and make it look that much cooler! There are many such tweaks available in Cydia that do just that, make your homescreen, lockscreen, icons and font look better. Here’s a new Cydia tweak from the famous Ryan Petrich called IconRotator.

IconRotator tweak animates your SpringBoard icons and makes them rotate according to your iDevice. You rotate your device to the left, the icons also rotate to the left and so on. It’s pretty cool and the animations are very smooth, something that the developers tweaks are known for. There are no settings to fiddle with, just a Respring after installation does the trick. There are other Cydia tweaks out there that do similar things, but I don’t think they’re this smooth.

Download Seas0nPass 0.8.2 Featuring Firmware Stitching For Apple TV 2G

The FireCore Dev-Team recently tweeted that a new version of the Apple TV Jailbreaking solution, Seas0nP ass is available to download. Unlike most updates for Seas0nPass that just bring on compatibility with new firmwares, Seas0nPass 0.8.2 comes with a new featured dubbed firmware stitching. What firmware stitching will allow you to do is downgrade your Apple TV to an earlier firmware version that Apple is no longer signing. You will of course have to have your signatures saved for a non-signed firmware however, in order to downgrade. This is similar to having to have saved SHSH blobs in order to downgrade your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad to an earlier firmware version.

Firmware signatures are required to install a particular firmware version onto iOS devices like the AppleTV. When installing the latest version, these signatures will be created in real-time during the iTunes restore process. However, from time to time some firmware versions will stop being ‘signed’ by Apple, which will prevent them from being installed. Backing up your firmware signatures allows you to retain the ability to install an older firmware version in the future, should the need ever arise.

In order to save your Apple TV firmware signatures you will need to use a tool like TinyUmbrella or you can even save them directly through aTV Flash (black).

iUnlock Cydia Tweak Adds Loads Of Custom Unlock Animations To iPhone, iPod Touch And iPad

You will find many Cydia tweaks to customize the Lockscreen of your iOS device, add custom unlock animations, logos and more. Here’s a new Cydia tweak that adds a bunch of unlock animations when unlocking your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad. This tweak is very similar to UnlockFX, but also adds 4 custom gestures to unlock and is called iUnlock.

The iUnlock Cydia tweak has some cool unlock animations that will definitely make the unlocking process more fun. I especially enjoyed the ripple and suck effects. You can even add 4 different gestures to unlock your iDevice, such as push to the left or right or pull from the bottom or top. Another feature of this tweak is that you can add custom unlock sounds from a big list of sounds. You can also control the speed of the animation!

iUnlock is very similar to UnlockFX, but the latter doesn’t give users a 3 day free trial. It is currently available in the BigBoss repo. You can try the tweak for 3 days and if you like it, you can buy the license for $1.99. Microsoft Office Suite Will Soon Be Available In The App Store

News blog, The Daily, has got a hold of an upcoming Microsoft Office Suite app for the Apple iPad. They were also the first ones who discovered that a Microsoft Office app was being developed exclusively for the iPad.

According to their sources, the app will soon be submitted to the App Store for approval. Before doing that, however, the team got a nice hands on with the app and noted that it’s similar to the OneNote app. The app also has a slight hint of Metro UI and only Word, Excel and PowerPoint files can be created and edited at the moment. Other office apps were nowhere to be found!

A brief hands-on with a working prototype of the software revealed a number of new things. The app’s user interface is similar to the current OneNote app, but it has hints of Metro, the new design language that can be seen in Windows Phone and in the as-yet-released Windows 8 desktop operating system.

Nobody has any idea about the exact release date, it should be available in the App Store in the coming weeks as the app has been completed. Also to be pointed out, that an Android version of the Microsoft Office Suite is not in development. But, not to worry Android users, you can make do with other apps for now. You can also give OnLive Desktop a try, if you want to work with Office apps right away.

New High Resolution Side-By-Side Photos Of iPad 2 And iPad 3 Shows Much Similarity

There have been many photo leaks of various parts and cases that are related to the new upcoming tablet, iPad 3/iPad 2S, from Apple. Most of them were either not of good quality or fake. MIC Gadget has posted some new high resolution pictures that compare the iPad 2 with the leaked iPad 3 case. These pictures show the same thing that all the rumors and leaks have so far told us about the new iPad.

These photos suggest that the new iPad 3 has similar thickness as the current iPad, however, it may have a longer tapered edge. The photos also confirm the rumor that there might be a better camera as the camera hole in the casing is bigger than that of the iPad 2.

What do you think? Is this the actual case of an iPad 3? The volume keys do look different and the camera hole is indeed bigger. We cannot be sure until Apple actually announces the next magical tablet. Only time will tell. Still, give us your opinion about the photos in the comments.

Here’s a Cydia tweak for all the email junkies and business people out there who check/read emails every 5 seconds. If your iDevice is jailbroken, then you must try this small tweak out.

Swipe for Mail is a new Cydia tweak that adds a swipe gesture to the Mail app in iOS. Nothing fancy, just the ability to read through emails by swiping left or right. This is for people who don’t like to use the next/previous button and for the ones who want to quickly browse through emails. Using the swipe gesture, according to me, is faster than the conventional method. You cannot, however, use this Cydia tweak when the emails are bigger than the screen size.

China Telecom Will Get The iPhone 4S On March 9th

Apple had previously stated that China is a huge market for them and they want to keep a healthy relationship going. China Unicom, the biggest carrier in China, was the first to bring the iPhone 4S to the mainland. It was then said that other big carrier China Telecom, will soon be getting the most amazing iPhone yet. The time has come!

China Telecom announced recently, that they will be starting sales of the iPhone 4S starting March 9th. Those looking to pre-order the device and don’t want to go to retail outlets can book their devices online starting March 2nd. The carrier will be selling the device on contract starting from RMB 0.

iPhone 4S has been an incredible hit with customers around the world. We’re thrilled to be launching iPhone 4S with China Telecom and can’t wait to get it into the hands of even more customers in China.

Chinese customers will certainly be thrilled to get the latest iPhone. If you remember, during the launch of the iPhone 4S in China, a riot was started by the scalpers that lead to Apple cancelling sales of the device. Hopefully, this time there won’t be any such delays! Any China Telecom users here?

ABC’s Nightline Takes An Inside Look At Apple’s Foxconn Factories

Apple’s Foxconn factories have been making appearances in the News, on the Internet and everywhere. Foxconn is the biggest manufacturer of Apple products and ABC, with permission from both of them, got access to the factories and the working environment. Earlier this year, the factories gained a lot of negative hits for not paying enough wages to workers and the work environment not being very safe.

To prove them wrong, Foxconn has increased the wages for all employees and now they’re ready to show the world how the inside of the factories look and function. ABC will be broadcasting a special Nightline show later tonight, where they will be taking an inside tour of the Foxconn factories in Shenzhen and Chengdu, China. They’ve already uploaded some images of the work happening inside the factory on their website and had also released a short preview of the show.

iOS 5.1 May Feature A New Notes App With Better Features

A few days ago, some people got a hold of a GM version of iOS 5.1 that is supposed to be released during the announcement of the next iPad. Some new features were discovered in that build of iOS 5.1, such as Japanese support for Siri and a new camera button on the lockscreen. We specially liked the new camera button, as it’s much better and productive than the previous one.

According to another discovery made by iPhone Hellas, Apple may also be introducing another new feature in iOS 5.1. From the looks of it, the Notes app in iOS 5.1 will have more features than in the current app. The current Notes app is basic and doesn’t have a lot of formatting options, which is why most people use other note taking apps. In iOS 5.1, the Notes app will have bullets and numbering, links, underlined text, font colors, and much more.

Now, that’s certainly an improvement over the older Notes app and it will be great if iOS 5.1 will get all those with the release. It is rumored that Apple will release iOS 5.1 two days after the announcement of iPad 3/iPad 2S on March 9th. Well, lets wait and watch. Provided jobs for developers, made them a tonne of money, helped the economy and more! Oh, and it has over 550,000 apps on various categories. Quite recently, we told you how the App Store gets more apps than the Android Market.
