How To: Jailbreak Untethered the iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad Running iOS 4.3.2! [RedSn0w 0.9.6rc13]

Only a few minutes ago we told you that the Dev-Team released RedSn0w 0.9.6rc13 to jailbreak the iOS 4.3.2 firmware untethered. Though jailbreaking with RedSn0w is not an extremely hard process, we have written this guide for all of you who would like a helping hand. In this specific how-to guide from you will learn how to jailbreak your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad running the iOS 4.3.2 firmware untethered using RedSn0w 0.9.6rc13.

Compatibility Note: The untethered iOS 4.3.2 jailbreak is not compatible with the iPad 2 at this time.

Step 1) – The first thing you will need to do is download RedSn0w 0.9.6rc13.

Download Redsn0w (Mac OS X) (Not working? Click here)
Download Redsn0 (Windows) (Not working? Click here)

Step 2) – Once you have downloaded RedSn0w 0.9.6rc13 to your desktop, you will need to launch it. Do this now by clicking the executable file (for Windows) or by clicking the application (for Mac OS X).

Step 3) – Once RedSn0w is up and running, you will simply need to browse for the iOS 4.3.2 firmware that corresponds to your iDevice.

Windows Note: Your iDevice’s firmware files are stored in the following directory:

Windows Vista & 7:  C:UsersAppDataRoamingApple ComputeriTunesiPod Software Updates
Windows Xp:  C:Documents and SettingsApplication DataApple ComputeriTunesiPod Software Updates

Mac OS X Note: Your iDevice’s firmware files are stored in the following directory:

~/Library/iTunes/iPhone Software Updates

If you can’t find your iDevice’s iOS 4.3.2 firmware file, you can download your corresponding firmware file by clicking here.

Once you successfully select your firmware file through RedSn0w it will say “Processing firmware” then “IPSW successfully identified”.

Click the next button to continue (when you do this RedSn0w will begin preparing jailbroken data).

Step 4) – The next screen you will be brought to is a screen that features multiple checkboxes. The only checkbox that must be enabled is Cydia (as this is the default jailbreak installer); the rest of the checkboxes are optional and should only be checked if you know what you’re doing.

When you have ensured Install Cydia is checked you can click the next button.

Step 5) – From this next screen the only thing left for you to do is put your iDevice into DFU mode. You will need to make sure that you turn your iDevice off, and you plug your iDevice into your computer before clicking the next button.

Once you have done this, click the next button and follow the on-screen instructions.

Step 6) – Once your iDevice is into DFU mode, RedSn0w will handle the rest of the jailbreaking process. You just need to sit back and watch RedSn0w perform its jailbreaking magic. Once your iDevice is done being jailbroken, it will reboot and you should see Cydia on your SpringBoard. This means the jailbreak has been carried out successfully. Congratulations on jailbreaking your iDevice untethered on the iOS 4.3.2 firmware.

ok its cool and everything but when will the ipad 2 jailbreak be available

  2. Guessing sometime in May, but thats just my two cents worth

  3. It finished the process but when i checked my version it is still 4.3.1
do i need to do another procedure? thanks!

  4. I have iPod Touch software 4.0 8A293. When I browsed for it in redsnow, it said “Unable to recognize specified IPSW”. I downloaded the IPSW from the link you provided in the tutorial. Do I need to find a different IPSW download, or am I doing something wrong?

Dosen’t work for iPhone 4 ! Just restored my iphone twice before going to the dev-team blog to see the update

“iPhone4 (GSM) iPhone4 users please wait for a pending fix
Until @i0n1c has a chance to fix the i4 version, we’ve removed the i4 untether from redsn0w (making it a tethered-only JB for i4 right now).”

  6. Did you download 4.3.2? I think the tutorial needs to be updated. It still says 4.3.1.

  7. It only says 4.3.1 in *one* place, though. If you download 4.3.2 through iTunes, it’s superfast! :D Mine took 5 mins. to download.

  8. You need to use a older version of redsnow

  9. @Opsov…I’m actually also getting 4.3.1 installed using the JUST DOWNLOADED official iPad 4.3.2 (8H7) restore IPSW file that I downloaded from within iTunes and which can be found in the ~/Library/iTunes/iPad Software Updates (on the Mac).

I did *not* update the iPad via iTunes (and lose the jailbreak) *before* using redsn0w rc13b (what’s with the “b”, btw?).

iPhone 4 still needs i0nic’s attention again but it is 8:46am CET in Germany which is where he is, so he might just get to it any second. lol…

any unlock for iPhone 3Gs 4.3.1 baseband 05.16.02?

  11. when it says uploading ramdisk the bar just gets stuck

  12. Decapitado says:

It works fine on my iTouch 4! :)

  13. The most important detail here worth mentioning is that if you have 4.3.1 jailbroken, you have to update to 4.3.2 (losing your jailbreak) and then use redsn0w. You can’t just go from 4.3.1 jailbroken to 4.3.2 jailbroken.

It’s always been this way but the tutorials fail to mention it.

  14. Herinfernalmajesty says:

my phone just refuses to turn on after trying these methods. but I am able to reboot it through itunes. i just don’t understand why it’s not working!!! help!

  15. 0.9.6rc14 not 0.9.6rc13 =)

  16. 0.9.6rc14 no 0.9.6rc13 =)

  17. anyone have the blank cydia icon after this on iPhone 4. The “just boot tethered now” fix i found for when this happened for previous redsn0w releases doesn’t seem to work.

  18. scratch that. as soon as I installed Pkgbackup the cydia icon was no longer blank

  19. Hey Crunch,

It now says iOS 4.3.2 in that one spot. Thanks for pointing that out.

If needed, you can download the latest iOS firmware for iPhone/iPod Touch or iPad

  20. Kenaveli says:

I just updated to 4.3.2 and jb with redsnow 4.3.2 untethered about an hour ago. So far so good =)

  21. Kobe62591 says:

when i clicked on the app “Cydia” it asked me if I am an user, hacker, or developer. which one should i choose???

  22. Kenaveli says:

That depends on how u want to use Cydia. Selecting hacker or developer will give u more options and tools to work with based on your user preferences and/or experience with more technical customizations.

  23. RedSn0w 0.9.6rc13 doesnt work if not set to windows xp compatibility mode. ^^, had a lot of trouble with that!

  24. im using win 7 btw..

  25. Budhna Roshan46 says:

any unlock for iPhone 3Gs 4.3.1 baseband 05.16.02?

  26. Infinity.Fringe says:

This is my first time jailbreaking any idevice, I’m following the instructions exactly as they are but it seems the process stops at the “Uploading ramdisk” phase. the first time I attempted the progress bar was stuck on the first one, second attempt it stalled at 4, the third time it stalled at 3 (I let the program run for a good while btw)

Addition details: jailbreaking an iTouch 4 with firmware update 4.3.2 using redsn0w 0.9.6rc13, operating with a windows 7 64bit environment.

  27. Infinity.Fringe says:

    Edit: using redsn0w 0.9.6rc14

  28. yea it looks easy..

  29. but what about the verizon iphone using ios 4.2.7 ….

  30. Helder says:

set compatibility to win xp and then cpu affinity to CPU1. no more crashes.

  31. Helder says:

should I sync my backups before jailbreaking??? or after?

  32. Alooshiee007 says:
