The iOS 5.1.1 Untethered Jailbreak Will Contain An iBooks DRM Patch Thanks To Planetbeing
When the iOS 5.0.1 Jailbreak was released there was numerous errors while opening DRM (digital rights management) encrypted iBooks on the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad. These errors effected the way images and content showed up, and in some cases made certain iBooks illegible. It was only until the hacker @Planetbeing released a patch to fix the problem that Jailbroken users on the iOS 5.0.1 firmware were able to once again use iBooks reliably.
With the iOS 5.1.1 Untethered Jailbreak just around the corner an obvious concern is that iBooks will once again not function reliably due to conflicting errors with DRM. Luckily for our sakes however, hacker Pod2G has recently tweeted that Planetbeing has worked his ‘crazeless’ binary to fix issues with his Jailbreak and DRMd iBooks. Meaning that straight off the bat when the iOS 5.1.1 Untethered Jailbreak is released it will be fully compatible with all iBooks.
For all of you Jailbreakers who make use of iBooks frequently I am sure this comes as a big relief! As instead of having to wait for a patch to be developer after-the-fact, thanks to Planetbeing everything should be fully functional from the get go.
