RecoveryGuard: A New Tweak To Stop Your iDevice From Entering Recovery Mode!

January 27, 2011 by Jaden Easton-Ellett 2 Comments

A new tweak was released in the PushFix source today called RecoveryGuard. What this tweak actually does is blocks iTunes for being able to put your iDevice in recovery mode. This prevents accidental upgrades/restores, if you accidentally click one of those two buttons in iTunes. Another great aspect to the recoveryGuard tweak is that it always makes iTunes think your iDevice is running the latest firmware. No longer will you need to put up with those annoying iTunes update prompt boxes, or be scared that you may accidentally start the firmware upgrade/restore process. RecoveryGuard truly is a useful tweak that I think all jailbroken users should have installed on their iDevice!

As I said RecoveryGuard is a tweak that isn’t available through a community source, this means you will need to add a 3rd party source. If you are interested in using RecoveryGuard on your iDevice you will need to add the following source to your iDevice (Do this now by launching Cydia and going into Manage > Sources > Edit > Add).

As I was saying before I think RecoverGuard is a great tweak that can save you from an easy to make mistake while using iTunes. As RecoveryGuard is a FREE tweak there is nothing to stop you from obtaining it!

Note: If you ever need to do a restore you can do so by putting your iDevice into DFU mode; or of course you can simply remove the tweak!
