September 25, 2014 by Sid Leave a Comment

It’s time to update your iPhone, iPads and iPods to iOS 8.0.2. Apple just released an iOS 8.0.2 update to the public with fixes for yesterday’s iOS 8.0.1 bugs and the bugs that iOS 8.0.1 was supposed to fix.

iOS-8.0.2-update

The iOS 8.0.1 update that was released yesterday caused some major issues on the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. Users lost cell reception with No Service being shown and TouchID stopped working. Of course, we did post a quick fix for this, but if you were waiting for Apple to release an update, then this is it. In a statement to CNBCTech, Apple said that around 40,000 iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus’ were affected by yesterday’s iOS 8.0.1 release.

Apple to @CNBCJosh: Less than 40,000 iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus devices were impacted by yesterday’s iOS 8.0.1 bugs.

Here’s the full changelog for the iOS 8.0.2 update:

  • Fixes an issue in iOS 8.0.1 that impacted cellular network connectivity and Touch ID on iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus
  • Fixes a bug so HealthKit apps can now be made available on the App Store
  • Addresses an issue where 3rd party keyboards could become deselected when a user enters their passcode
  • Fixes an issue that prevented some apps from accessing photos from the Photo Library
  • Improves the reliability of the Reachability feature on iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus
  • Fixes an issue that could cause unexpected cellular data usage when receiving SMS/MMS messages
  • Better support of Ask To Buy for Family Sharing for In-App Purchases
  • Fixes an issue where ringtones were sometimes not restored from iCloud backups
  • Fixes a bug that prevented uploading photos and videos from Safari

If you updated to iOS 8.0.1 yesterday, but for some reason didn’t roll back to iOS 8, then you should update to iOS 8.0.2 immediately. It’s available as an OTA update for iPhone 4s and later, iPad 2 and later and the iPod Touch 5.
