With the release of Spirit just around the corner, I thought it would be a good idea to show you how to save your SHSH blobs. Just encase you need to ever downgrade back to the iOS 4 firmware in the future. I have wrote several posts on this, however as TinyUmbrella has been updated I thought it would be a good idea to create a new tutorial. This updated version of TinyUmbrella supports all devices on any firmware version up to the iOS 4.0.1!

TinyUmbrella is a great little program that will not only save your SHSH Blobs locally (on your computer), but it will submit them to Cydia as well. What Saving these SHSH blobs actually does is it allows you to get past Apple’s limitation of not being able to downgrade your firmware to a lower version that you are currently running. This ensures that if you ever update by mistake and need to downgrade because there is no jailbreak or unlock; you will be safe to do so.

Learn How to Save your SHSH Blobs

Step 1: The first thing you will need to do is download TinyUmbrella to your computer. Tiny Umbrella is cross-compatible, meaning that it will work on all operating systems.

Step 2: Now that you have successfully downloaded TinyUmbrella to your computer, you will need to launch TinyUmbrella now. When TinyUmbrella is up and running you will need to simply connect your iDevice to your computer.

Step 3: Once TinyUmbrella has recognized your iDevice, simply click the Save My SHSH button and TinyUmbrella will handle the rest.

Once you have done this, a copy of your shsh blobs will be saved to your computer and a copy will also be sent to Cydia to save your SHSH Blobs on Saurik’s server. You are now well prepared in case you ever need to downgrade your iDevice in the future. That was easy wasn’t it?
