How To: Install Siri On iPhone 4/3GS, iPod Touch 4G/3G, iPad 1G Running iOS 5.1.1 With SiriPort v5.1.1-3

June 1, 2012 by Jaden Easton-Ellett 435 Comments

With the iOS 5.1.1 Untethered Jailbreak being released recently in the form of Absinthe 2.0 there are nearly one million new Jailbroken iOS devices. I am sure one of the reasons why so many people Jailbroke their iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad was to get Siri functioning. Unfortunately the most popular methods of installing Siri on Jailbroken iOS devices, Spire is not compatible with the iOS 5.1.1 firmware.

SiriPort iOS 5.1.1

For those who are still wanting to get Siri on their older generation iOS device then you will be glad to know there is an alternative. This alternative is called SiriPort and will allow you to get Siri functioning without the need of a proxy server. Meaning you can use Apple’s personal assistant, Siri on the iPhone 4 (GSM, CDMA), iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch 4G, iPod Touch 3G and iPad 1G running the iOS 5.1.1 firmware without iPhone 4S activation keys.

SiriPort was recently updated to version 5.1.1-3 as well to support better connectivity and responsiveness. As such SiriPort really is one of your best options to get Siri fully functioning on older generation iOS devices. Thus, in this tutorial you will learn how to install SiriPort to your iPhone 4/3GS, iPod Touch 4G/3G or iPad 1G running the iOS 5.1.1 firmware.

Install SiriPort On iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad

WARNING: Ensure you back up your iOS device before following this how to guide. Although a lot of people have had success installing SiriPort it has been known to cause endless boot loops, which result in having to do a factory reset to your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad. This actually happened to me when trying to install SiriPort on my iPhone 4 so proceed at your own discretion.

Step 1) – The first thing you will obviously need to do is Jailbreak your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad Untethered on the iOS 5.1.1 firmware. For those of you who would like a helping hand with this please click here.

Step 2) – Next you will need to add the official SiriPort repo. To do this launch Cydia, go into the Manage tab, followed by the sources section and then tap Edit > Add and type in the following repository shown in the quoted area below:

http://repo.siriport.ru

Step 3) – With the repository successfully added go into Cydia’s Search tab and search for:

SiriPort (original)

Step 4) – Once you see SiriPort (original) on the search results you will need to tap on it and install it to your iOS device. One thing to keep in mind before installing it however, is that it is a large package (nearly 100MB) so you will want to ensure you are connected to a Wi-Fi network.

Step 5) – With SiriPort now installed on your iOS device you will need to launch Safari and go to the following URL:

Step 6) – After visiting the URL shown above you will need to download the certificate file, email it to yourself and then open the certificate and install it to your iOS device. Once the certificate has been installed you will need to reboot your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad.

Step 7) – Now simply invoke Siri and say “Hi”. If Siri does not respond in a few minutes you will need to reboot and repeat this process until you get Siri to reply to you. Once Siri does reply to you it is working and you now have Siri functioning on your older generation iOS device running the iOS 5.1.1 firmware.

Note: SirPort is used by a lot of people and if you are not having any luck getting a response from Siri it could simply be because the SiriPort servers are overloaded.

If you followed all the steps correctly and met the requirements outlined previously you should have gotten Siri fully functioning on your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad running the iOS 5.1.1 firmware. Please share your experience with SiriPort and any questions or further thoughts you may have in the comments section below.

    i was using this “r e p o . s i r i p o r t. r u” during feb-march, why are you posting outdated stuffs Jaden? this repo siri still has issues and isn’t functioning properly compared to Ac1d which is still getting updated

It is not working if you do a fresh install of siriport(Original) 5.1.1-3 but it is working if you upgraded from 5.1.1-2.  Here’s my theory … Based on the error message on the info screen for 5.1.1-3 the new siriport (Original) got installed in the wrong place, / User. On new installs this is causing siriport to not work. If you had installed 5.1.1-2 previously you still have that old install in the right place and 5.1.1-3 is still using those files. That’s why people who upgraded from -2 are working and those of us who had to do a fresh install of -3 are not working. Is there a fix in the works?

  109. Alex_a says

    June 4, 2012 at 6:02 pm

I’ve been having the problem of when I say “Hi Siri.”, She’s been replying with messages such as
“I’m sorry, but I can’t take any requests right now”.
As i know that mostly everyone gets these messages after download of Siri, and patience is what fixes this problem(5 minutes to 6+ hours), my impatient self decided to try turning Siri off and rebooting, and that caused my iPod to get stuck in an infinite rebooting loop. But instead of doing a factory restore and resetting my iPod, i put it in DFU mode and booted it from Redsn0w, and that worked and rebooted my iPod normally and i have fixed the rebooting loop.

  110. Alex_a says

    June 4, 2012 at 6:06 pm

I’m pretty sure it’s because the servers are overloaded, but on the ModMyi forums for Siriport, it says that patience is the key.
(It could take 5 minutes to 6+ hours)
It’s a slow process but it’s what works!
    Hope it helped :)

*** EASY ***HOW TO GET OUT OF BOOT LOOP*** EASY ***

I’m surprised no has posted this solution to the problem, however, it works and it’s fairly easy. Don’t worry, your phone will be fine. :)

Here’s my story. Jailbroke my iphone 4s (iOs 5.1.1). Downloaded siri spire proxy and my iphone crashed. The apple logo would appear, then the spinning graphic, then the apple logo, black screen, repeatedly. I’ve downloaded and modded countless apps from cydia, so I am fairly familiar with properly downloading and installing specific apps that work for my iPhone. It just happened to slip my mind to double check the system requirements,  moral of the story: double and triple check system requirements before downloading cydia apps. Corrupt files will crash your iPhone and it will be worthless. However, i’m not going to tell anyone not to jailbreak their iPhone. My iPhone crashed, spend hours researching a solution, restored it, then i jailbroke it again. I’ll be more carefule next time. Anyway, on with the solution:

I googled anything that could come to mind on how to fix the issue aka my iphone was as useful as a brick. After 2.5 hours of putting my phone in and out of DFU Mode, downloading programs that others suggested, and countless iTunes error messages that my phone could not be restored, period. I stumbled upon my old redsn0w download, and it clicked in my head, redsn0w (and possibly other jailbreak programs might have this feature, but i’m just familiar with the functions of redsn0w) allows users to manually restore iPhone Firmware downloaded from the internet. BINGO!!!

***STEP SEVEN: IF YOU DID AN ITUNES BACKUP WHILE THE CORRUPT CYDIA APP WAS DOWNLOADED ON YOUR IPHONE, DO NOT RESTORE (i will explain how to do restore from a clean back up below, very easy) FROM THAT BACKUP. YOUR IPHONE WILL CRASH AGAIN AND YOU WILL NEED TO REPEAT THE FOLLOWING STEPS***

If you have any questions after looking over the steps, feel free to message me. If i can, i can try to help you individually if you would like. I am in no way an expert when it comes to jailbreaking and i am by no means an experienced programmer/hacker/developer/etc. I just knew there had to be a way to do this. I could have downloaded the wrong firmware (thankfully i didnt!) who knows what would have happened then. Make sure you download the correct redsn0w and the correct firmware, everything else is a walk in the park.

    Downloads Needed:
-Recboot 2.2 (*you may or may not need it* google it, you’ll find it somewhere, i couldn’t recall name of the site. my apologies.)
-redsn0w 0.9.12b1 (iPhone 4s/iOs 5.1.1, other phones/firmware require other redsn0w versions to be compatible with your iPhone)
-iOs Firmware (google “ios 5.1.1 firmware” and you should be able to find a link where it will lead you to the download link)

You will only need Recboot 2.2 if you cannot put it into DFU or Recovery Mode. This program will do it for you. I am not sure if your phone needs to be in DFU or Recovery Mode, but what i did for redsn0w to catch connection to my iPhone is: i used recboot to put it into recovery mode (the next part is trial and error, if it caught connection i could initiate restore..if not keep playing with it), then held the home+power button for 10 sec, then just power for 10 sec, then power+home for 10 sec. just play around with it, it will eventually catch connection to your iphone and work.

    Step One: open redsn0w
Step Two: click “extras” , then
    Step Three: click “even more”,
    Step Four: then click “restore”.
Step Five: find where the firmware file was downloaded and click “open”
Step Six: then click “remote”, it’ll restore your iphone to factory settings just like itunes would.
***Step Seven:*** Open iTunes, if you have an iTunes backup that did not take place with the corrupted file that caused the crash, you can now restore it using that backup. I was unable to restore using an iTunes backup, however, my iCloud backup from 2 weeks ago did not have the file and successfully restored after going through the inital iPhone activation steps.

    1) Spam The Sir Button Repeatably Very Fast For A Few Minutes Then Try
    Repeat Until it Works

    2) Speak To Siri, Wait For Sorry But…, Reboot, Try Again
    Repeat Until it Works

This is very simple after you install the certificate and SIRIPORT, all you have to do is say “hello” wait every time for siri to reply back “i’m unable to assist..” do that 5 to 6 times then reboot. I had to do that cycle for 12 times. If we can do simple math thats 72 times. It is very, very boring but i’m using siri now for all she’s worth..woo hoo…lol

So i’m activating siri right… after rebooting i get stuck in the loop of apple logo reboot. Tried all methods to get out but nothing worked. Restoring on itunes was a problem too, kept getting all kinds of errors, i have iphone 4. what finally worked immediately was deleting all old IOS firmwares and old Redsn0ws. i just restored, now going on to jailbreak. Stay away from these unsupported fake ass SIRI.

    @Jadan

Ok, so I followed the steps and everything went well until the last step. I rebooted like you said to in your instructions and of course happened to be one of the victims of the never ending boot screen.. so restored it back to normal settings and then did a restore from a back up. My iPhone 4 is now back to normal with my apps, messages, etc. minus the jailbreak. When you received the endless bootscreen and all that, did you restore your phone and retry these steps again to get Siri? Or do you not have it and said to hell with it?

Then I set some reminders. From time to time, it has hiccups, but what can I say? I have siri running on my 3GS, which is 3 years old. It cant get better than that. Thank you so much! However, when i visited the site, it automatically took me to cydia as a certificate file and all i had to do was just accept it. Rebooted my phone, and then enabled siri with “Raise To On” disabled. Asked what is 2+2, took some time to load and then repeated, “would like me to search the web for dupless do?” and from then on it’s working. A bit slow though, but nevertheless, worth it. Thank you author for the instruction and thank you so much developers all around the world for creating this. :)
