BlackBerry™ have finally released the phone that has the power to save them, the BlackBerry Z10. But only in the UK it seems, starting on the 31st of January. US is to receive BlackBerry’s new handset in March. It is an unusual choice, as the US has a bigger market and population! But nevertheless, BlackBerry have decided to release their new smartphone in the UK first by two whole months. BlackBerry are also releasing the keyboard option of BlackBerry 10, the BlackBerry Q10 in April, with a 3.1-inch screen and a keyboard.
The BlackBerry Z10 is the new BlackBerry flagship device, running the much anticipated OS, BlackBerry 10. I have an emulator running on my computer, and I can guarantee that the operating system has potential.
The phone has a 4.2-inch screen, a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. This phone seems a little pricey, starting at £36 monthly in the UK. This is not the best policy for a sinking ship.
BlackBerry have made it very easy for developers to create apps on their new platform. This is a key point for BlackBerry, as often the main reason for buying a smartphone is based on the available applications. This is why the iPhone has so many buyers (iOS App Store).
The BlackBerry Z10 also has potential in the business market as the Personal and Work modes on the new operating system offer a great way to switch between your business and home life.
It has lots of other features as well that will draw users, like multitasking, flowing, message hub, and BBM, but the question is, will it save BlackBerry from bankruptcy? We shall see after they release their first quarter results.
