BlackBerry 10 will definitely be the most anticipated OS releases in 2013. As we saw today the early version of BlackBerry 10 currently beat Windows Phone 8 and iOS 6 in web browsing performance.

As January 30th — the official release date of BB10 — draws nearer, it makes sense we would start seeing some hardware leaks. Sure enough the upcoming BlackBerry 10 powered handsets that Research In Motion (RIM) plans to unveil on January 30th have apparently been leaked; well one of them at least.

RIM has plans to announce two BlackBerry 10 powered handsets, one that features a full touchscreen experience and one with the ancient QWERTY keyboard. The leaked device, obtained by UnwiredView, is the touchscreen versopm that will be marketed as the Z10. It will come in both a black and white version as you can see below.

BlackBerry 10 Z10 Smartphone Leaked

If you know anything about BlackBerry smartphones, it is that they were always marketed with four-digit model numbers. This is certainly not very pleasing to the consumer and thus as UnwiredView explains, switching to a two-digit model number this will hopefully greaten the appeal of the new devices.

According to the marketing material pictured below, obtained by a reliable source, RIM is jettisoning the traditional four-digit model numbers in favor of a shorter, catchier nomenclature; the full-touch device, currently known by its “L-series” designation, should come to market as the BlackBerry Z10, in both black and white. Retail branding for the keyboard-equipped model is unknown, although there’s some evidence that it will be called the BlackBerry X10.

With myself being Canadian, I can’t help but root for RIM, but what do you think? Is BB10 going to be the OS that saves the company? Or will it get its five minutes of fame and once again get destroyed at market by iOS, Android and Windows Phone 8? Let us know what you think in the comments section below.
