As security on the Mac OS X is not as amazing as it used to be, Apple has rolled out a new security update for the Mountain Lion Developer Preview 4. The update should be available in the Mac App Store and you should get a pop-up notification.

This security update basically adds a daily update mechanism to the system so your computer will always remain protected. After all the Flashback malware attacks that Apple computers recently faced, the company has improved security on Mountain Lion. The new OS X Security Update Test 1.0 requires a restart after install and will check for security updates daily and install them automatically. A few other updates and improvements are also a part of this update:

This update tests the new Mountain Lion Security Updates system. The new system includes:

  • Daily Checks for required security updates
  • The ability to install required security updates automatically or after restarting your Mac
  • A more secure connection to Apple’s update servers.

This update includes general updates and improvements to Mountain Lion Developer Preview 4.
