Apple Finally Pulls The Plug On Its Music Social Network Ping
Apple’s failed attempt at a social network, Ping will finally be buried on September 30th. AllThingsD is reporting that Apple will finally be pulling the plug on its attempt to merge music and social chatter into a single platform. Starting September 30th Ping will be going away forever and will not be able to be accessed through iTunes. In fact, Apple has already shutdown Ping on the web.

It should be no mystery why Ping was such a flop, for starters it did not play well with everyone’s number one favourite social network. This doesn’t even matter now however, as both Apple and Facebook are starting to work more closely to bring us native Facebook integration into both iOS and OS X.
Tim Cook‘s official words on the failure of Ping could of been heard at the D10 conference where he said “We tried Ping, and I think the customer voted and said ‘This isn’t something that I want to put a lot of energy into.”
