With the new MacBooks announced, it was time to talk about the Mac Pro. The first Mac to be fully assembled in the United Stats.
It is a powerhouse to say the very least, coming with Intel Xeon E5 (6, 8 or 12-core variants) and up to 64GB of 1866MHz DDR3 EEC memory. There are dual-workstation AMD FirePro graphics with up to 4,096 stream processors and dual 384-bit memory busses. This allows for up to three 4K displays connected through Thunderbolt 2 or HDMI 1.4.
The new Mac Pro really does make 4k video editing a reality through an updated FinalCut X application, which will be released later on the Mac App Store.
Believe it or not the new Mac Pro is also incredibly quite, apparently it is no louder than the Mac Pro. It is also up to 70% more power efficient than the previous Mac Pro.
Another cool feature is a motion controller on the back to illuminate the back ports.
So with all of this performance and the fact it is manufactured in the United States, how much will it retail for? Surprisingly lower than most people anticipated! The Mac Pro starts at $2,999 and this comes with 12GB of DRAM and 3.7GHz quad-core chip. It will be available in December.
