I fired up the new MacBook Air this morning and discovered a software update waiting to be installed. This is a fairly significant update from Apple that will increase your battery life in certain circumstance. You see, apparently there was an issue that lead to increased CPU power consumption that wasted unnecessary battery power with the latest models of the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro. Besides battery life issues this update addresses compatibility bugs with certain USB devices.
This update is nearly 80MB in size and it is recommend that all owners of a MacBook Air or MacBook Pro introduced in June 2012 or later update as soon as possible. Have you noticed an increased battery life after installing this update? Share your responses and further thoughts in the comments section.
