During Apple’s October media event the company announced that it would be releasing the redesigned Mac Pro in December, but much like the iPad Mini 2 no specific release date was given.
It looks like we may finally have a date in mind though as German retailer Conrad Electronic has now begun taking pre-orders for the two stock configurations of the new Mac Pro, citing availability of Monday, December 16.
At this point it isn’t clear what Conrad is basing its availability citation on, but this is one of the first specific claims of a release date we have seen. The only other we have seen is from MacGeneration, which tweeted that the Mac Pro is expected to deliver by December 18th (this could be in line with December 16 shipping availability).
Although this is indeed close to Christmas the Mac Pro isn’t really a consumer desktop, instead aimed at professionals so it isn’t really an issue.
It is also worth pointing out when officially released, the Mac Pro will likely also come in very limited volumes, so if you want one you better keep your eyes and ears open as technically it could drop any day now.
