Hands-On With The GooPhone i5S [VIDEO]
We have told you about products from GooPhone from before, most recently about their $99 iPad Mini knockoff. Now the Chinese manufactures has took it up themselves to come up with their take on the iPhone 5S, called the GooPhone i5S.
The GooPhone i5S runs Android Jelly Bean 4.1.2 and includes some sub-par specs. It has a 4-inch oneglass 854 x 480 display, 1GHz Dual-core MTK MT6577 chipset, 5 megapixel rear camera, 1.3 megapixel front camera, 1GV of RAM and 8GB of internal storage.
Despite running Android Jelly Bean 4.1.2, the developers of the GooPhone i5S have made a skin that looks identical to iOS in most cases. Surprisingly, the phone looks to be pretty fast and responsive as well looking at the hands-on video below.
Although the GooPhone i5S could not compete with the future iPhone 5S, or even the iPhone 5, that was not why it was created. The GooPhone i5S costs only $149.99 contract-free, and was actually available to purchase for only $99 for the first 1000 units. Unfortunately however, at the time of writing this article all of those introductory priced units have been sold.
If anything, the GooPhone i5S is proof that Apple could indeed manufacture a cheaper entry-level iPhone.
