Earlier in the week we told you guys that Apple was in talks with Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla Motor, last year about a possible acquisition of Tesla. Which is of course one of the leading electric car manufactures.
In an interview with Musk done by Bloomberg today Musk confirmed these talks with Apple but he wouldn’t comment on what the conversations revolved around and noted that an acquisition was “very unlikely.”
“If one or more companies had approached us last year about such things there’s no way we could really comment on that. We had conversations with Apple, I can’t comment on whether those revolved around any kind of acquisition.”
Apple could of course just been discussing iOS In Car integration or even Tesla’s new battery plant. As Musk did state the plant is “the biggest battery plant in the world by far and we’ll do it in partnership with some other companies.” At the same time though it could make sense for Apple to acquire the company. Especially since Tim Cook recently said himself the company isn’t against large acquisitions.
What do you think? Should Apple acquire Tesla? Was that what these meetings were about? Drop us a line with your thoughts in the comments section below.
