The latest version of Windows Phone 7.5 Tango, which basically cuts down the hardware requirements for a Windows Phone device, will be officially known as Windows Phone 7.5 Refresh.
According to Duico Stefania of Windows Phone Division, Microsoft Italy, the Windows Phone 7.5 Tango will be called Windows Phone 7.5 Refresh. The update is currently only available on the Nokia Lumia 800, but will soon enter the mainstream market. The folks over at the Windows Phone Italy blog had an interview with Duico Stefania and this is what she had to tell.
According to the rumor mill seems most credible that the release of Windows Phone “Tango” is imminent. Can you reveal some details about it? A: At the moment I can only say that the release of the new release of Windows Phone, known under the code name “Tango” is expected in the coming months and that its official name will be Windows Phone 7.5 Refresh.
Windows Phone 7.5 Refresh will not feature many improvements, rather it will bring down the minimum hardware requirements for devices to run the OS. Earlier, a Windows Phone device had to have at least 512MB of RAM to perform the tasks, but with Refresh that requirement goes down to 256MB. This will help other competitors to bring lower priced devices to the market. Windows Phone is just a budding mobile operating system, but one day it will catch up with iOS and Android!
