Microsoft Surface Phone Concept Shows Off A Mini Touch Cover, Super AMOLED+ Screen And More [VIDEO]
Ever since Microsoft announced that it would be creating its own tablet called the Surface, it had a lot of people wondering whether or not this meant the Redmond company would begin creating hardware for other products. Microsoft has obviously been known by its software, but a much smoother user experience can be created when both the software and hardware are created by one company — we indeed saw this with the Surface.
One such product that has been rumored Microsoft might venture into is creating a smartphone. A Surface-like smartphone could be a great product for Microsoft to manufacture considering they have a fully fledged mobile operating system by the name of Windows Phone 8. In fact, last year we heard rumors that Microsoft had already started looking into such a handset.
An artists who goes by the name of YrOnimus on Deviant Art created some concept images of what a Surface phone might look like and now these still images have been made into a video. It is a spectacular sight to say the least. Check it out below.
According to the concept video the phone features a 5-inch 1280×720 Super AMOLED+ screen, includes a USB 3.0 port, a 12MP camera and more. It appears to be running Windows Phone 8 and also includes a kickstand which will surely help in viewing videos. There is of course also the multitouch cover that I have mixed thoughts about, in my opinion it would probably not work well as a physical keyboard because of its size.
All-in-all it looks like a pretty great handset that would be sure to draw some attention if it was the real deal. What do you think? Will Microsoft ever release a Surface phone? Drop us a line in the comments section below.
