Yesterday, iOS hacker and jailbreaker I0n1c showed us that iOS 7.1.1 can be jailbroken. A few hours later, Winocm posted a video on YouTube demoing the iOS 7.1.1 jailbreak and yes, it is untethered. He showed his iPhone 4 running on iOS 7.1.1 fully jailbroken and untethered.
Winocm had also demoed an iOS 7.1 untethered jailbreak working on his iPhone 4. And now, he tweeted out saying “I was bored today, so I did this (again, in another way)” and posted a link to this video. This means that iOS 7.1.1 is very much possible and could see a public release soon. Apple is said to announce iOS 8 in the first week of June during WWDC 2014, so whoever is developing on this jailbreak could also release it once iOS 8 is out. The video description on YouTube reads:
This is the culmination of boredom, 3 hours of work and lots of masochism.
Oh yeah, this is iOS 7.1.1 untethered if you didn’t notice earlier. (iPhone 4 GSM though, don’t want to mess with any other devices that I have. Would work elsewhere… if you put in the effort. ジ)
Yay, poorest woman’s untethered jailbreak.
This untethered jailbreak for iOS 7.1.1 currently works on the iPhone 4, but the hacker noted that if enough effort is put in, it should work with other/newer devices. Check out the video below:
Apple patched the Evasi0n7 jailbreak with the release of iOS 7.1, but Winocm also managed to jailbreak iOS 7.1. His method is different than that of I0n1c’s as he stated in the tweet, which means there are still a lot of exploits.
Releasing a jailbreak with those exploits at this time will lead to Apple patching them in iOS 8, so we cannot guarantee a release. We sure hope for one though, as a lot of users want a jailbreak on iOS 7.1.1, including me. By the way, Winocm will be joining Apple later this year!
What do you think? Will there be a public iOS 7.1.1 release soon or will it come out once iOS 8 is out?
