Yesterday Apple released the official version of the iOS 5.0.1 firmware. While we did issue a warning to not update to the official iOS 5.0.1 firmware, those of you who did or had no choice, are most likely looking for an iOS 5.0.1 Jailbreak. Luckily for you, you can still Jailbreak the iOS 5.0.1 firmware tethered or semi-tethered. The only downside about updating to the official iOS 5.0.1 firmware is that the untethered iOS 5.0 Jailbreak that is being worked on by the Dev-Team may not support the iOS 5.0.1 firmware.

Regardless of whether or not you will be able to Jailbreak untethered in the future, you can still Jailbreak the official iOS 5.0.1 firmware tethered using RedSn0w 0.9.9b8.

The only thing you will need to keep in mind while Jailbreaking your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad running the official iOS 5.0.1 firmware, is that you will need to select the official iOS 5.0 firmware file when using RedSn0w 0.9.9b8 (not the iOS 5.0.1 firmware file). We will have a how to guide available for Jailbreaking the official iOS 5.0.1 firmware with RedSn0w 0.9.9b8 (Windows and Mac OS X) available shortly, until that time please stay tuned…
