Right now the only way to Jailbreak the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad on the iOS 5 firmware generation is through a Tethered Jailbreak. This means that your iOS device cannot lose power or you will need to plug it back into your computer and run a Jailbreaking tool of your choice to boot it back into a usable state. Thus, it is no doubt that thousands of people are waiting for an Untethered iOS 5.0/iOS 5.0.1 Jailbreak.

For all of you desperately waiting on Pod2G’s Untethered Userland Jailbreak you will be glad to know that today he has given us some updates on his blog (thanks Matt for the tip). By the looks of it Pod2G has gotten his Untethered Userland Jailbreak working on the following iOS Devices running the iOS 5.0.1 firmware:

  • First Generation iPad
  • Fourth Generation iPod Touch
  • iPhone 3GS

Ensure that you don’t forget that we also told you Pod2G’s Untethered Userland Jailbreak was working on the iPhone 4 running the iOS 5.0.1 firmware as well. This means, with Pod2G’s Untethered Jailbreak now supporting all iOS Devices running the iOS 5.0 firmware, and now all iOS Devices running the iOS 5.0.1 firmware, it can only be a matter of time before Pod2G releases his Jailbreak to the community.

We will keep you updated on the status of this Untethered Userland Jailbreak, in the mean time please leave any thoughts in the comments section below…
