Jailbreakme – Stuck on The Purple Screen? How To Fix

On August 2, 2010, by Dusty

I was just about to quit on jailbreakme due to the overuse of it and the fact that I couldn’t even get a status update after waiting an hour, but for those of you who are still trying to use jailbreakme and are stuck at a Purple-colored space-type screen. Here’s a solution to fix this problem. Basically the cause of this problem is the cache, and it needs to be cleared before jailbreaking your iDevice.

How To: Jailbreak ALL iDevices with Jailbreakme.com (aka Star)

Follow these steps:

Step 1: Navigate to Settings > Safari > Clear History, Cookies and Cache.

Step 2: Reboot your iDevice (slide to turn off, and then power on).

Step 3: Launch Safari browser and try http://jailbreakme.com or http://jailbreakme.modmyi.com again.

If this fix worked for you, let us know in the comments.

You need to activate your iPhone before you can use this. You'll need a compatible SIM card to do that.

Nope… same thing… crash crash crash. Cleared cache, history, cookies restarted phone, opened safari and went to jailbreakme.com and crash again. Did all the above, restored phone from backup and still – crash. Was on 4.0. Updated to 4.0.1 and tried again… crash. Good thing I don't have a hammer anywhere near the phone right now!
