A very big issue with Jailbreaking the iOS 5 firmware has been iBooks not working. Many users have reported that once they have Jailbroken the iOS 5 firmware they can no longer read iBooks through the stock iOS 5 iBooks.app. This is because of the way RedSn0w/Sn0wBreeze handles Sandbox patches in the kernal when you Jailbreak the iOS 5 firmware using one of these tools.

Note: If you are unaware what Sandbox patches are, they are a security measure that is used to ensure applications such as Safari don’t have access to personal information or system files.

iH8Sn0w has actually gotten iBooks to work on the iOS 5 firmware once Jailbroken and he has uploaded a YouTube video to prove just this.

iBooks Running On Jailbroken iOS 5 Firmware

Unfortunately even though iH8Sn0w has gotten iBooks to work on the Jailbroken iOS 5 firmware, he is not going to be releasing the iBooks iOS 5 fix because it is too unstable for the public. While a fix for iBooks on the iOS 5 firmware will not be released by iH8Sn0w, another developer(s) such as the iPhone Dev-Team are likely to release a fix in the near future.
