Hacker Pod2G has recently updated his blog with some new information regarding his Untethered Userland Jailbreak. In this update he has mentioned that he his going to take a new direction with his Untethered Userland Jailbreak.

You see, Pod2G has given all the information and progress he has made on the *A4 Untethered Userland Jailbreak to Chronic-Dev (the development team responsible for the Chronic-Dev Crash Reporter and also GreenPois0n). He has mentioned that they will be responsible for testing, integrating and releasing the A4 Untethered Userland Jailbreak to the public.

Note: A4 Jailbreak refers to the iPhone 4/3GS, iPod Touch 4G/3G and iPad 1G.

With Chronic-Dev handling the A4 Userland Jailbreak, Pod2G will be putting all of his efforts into Jailbreaking the iPhone 4S and iPad 2. This means we will get the best of both worlds because the A4 Userland Jailbreak will be released extremely soon, and Pod2G is almost guaranteed to release the iPhone 4S/iPad 2 Jailbreak in the near future.

I read the comments on the blog, and I know that a lot of people are waiting for the A5 jailbreak. Also, I know there are tons of people out there with A4 or even earlier devices who wants the untether now and don’t care about it could be interesting to wait A5 is finished to release or even 5.1, so that we don’t waste an exploit that took me months to find and develop. I need to focus on A5 and hope I can find a path quick, and I have the feeling that chronic-dev could help me.

So, here is what I did:

  • I gave all the details to the chronic dev team so that they can finish, test, integrate and release the A4 jb ASAP.
  • I’ll put all my energy from now on on the A5

We will keep you updated when more information is available on the Untethered Userland Jailbreak. Until that time please stay tuned and leave any thoughts in the comments section below…
