The Galaxy S IV is without a doubt a cool handset, it features a Exynos 5 Octa processor, a 5-inch HD screen that has a higher pixel density than the iPhone 5 and some impressive software features. On the weekend we showed you an initial iPhone 5 vs Galaxy S IV comparison video and for the most part both smartphones were pretty evenly matched when you added up their pros and cons.

When it comes to performance however, the Galaxy S IV has all other smartphones dead in the water. Primate Labs recently did a comparison between the Geekbench 2 scores on popular handsets that obviously include the Galaxy S IV and put them head-to-head.

The results?

Well, the Samsung Galaxy S IV obliterated the competition. It is twice as fast as the Galaxy S III, the iPhone 5 and the BlackBerry Z10. What’s not clear though, is how the Galaxy S IV will handle the increased power and cooling requirements that generally come with faster processors. Will the Galaxy S IV have overheating issues and poor battery performance? Only time will tell.

Samsung Galaxy S IV GeekBench Score

Regardless, considering the Galaxy S III is less than a year old it is impressive to think that Samsung was able to double its performance. As Primate Labs points out, smartphone performance has improved drastically over the last 6 years “we’ve gone from the original iPhone with a Geekbench score of 130 to the Samsung Galaxy S 4 with a Geekbench score of 3100 in only six years.”
