While the authenticity of these photos have not been confirmed, the Chinese blog TGbus show not one but two complete models of the so-called “iPhone 5.” These aren’t artist’s renderings or a few leaked parts, this is a picture of what appears to be two fully functioning smart phones. The units are apparently running Apple’s iOS software on its 4 inch, 16:9 aspect ratio screens.

Is this the leaked "iPhone 5?"

From the pictures you can see a few SpringBoard icons on the front as well as the speaker grill and FaceTime camera. From the sides you can see the lock switch and volume toggles. On the rear is the back plate, camera, and LED flash. The smaller connection port is on the bottom, along with the phone’s expanded microphone and speaker grill and repositioned headphone jack.

There isn’t a lot more information on these phones, whether they are prototypes or production models, or where they came from. It’s possible that they’re the real deal, but they could also be KIRF’d knockoffs based on existing leaks.

Why be skeptical? There are two issues that come to mind. 1) This is a leak from a Chinese blog, but the carrier for the phone is AT&T (and they’re getting decent reception). 2) The new iPhone is pictured with the old Maps icon, and not the new Maps icon with the blue path.

If you look closely, you can see the old Maps icon.

Apple's new Maps icon, for reference.

Update: It turns out that the photos were indeed an artist’s rendering of the next generation iPhone based on rumors.
