Earlier today we told you that Foxconn’s CEO Terry Gou stated at a shareholder meeting that the next generation iPhone will put Samsung’s Gallaxy S III to shame. If this is indeed true it is likely to be because the next generation iPhone will see a major facelift. Possibly sporting a larger display, coupled with a redesign similar to that of when Apple transition from the iPhone 3GS to the iPhone 4, and LTE support.

iPhone 5 dock connector

Although the features I stated above have not been confirmed, according to TechCrunch the next generation iPhone will indeed feature a 19-pin “mini” connector that will replace the previous 30-pin port. They have mentioned:

Although the form factor and actual size are still unknown, TechCrunch has independently verified that Apple is working on adding a 19-pin port, replacing the current 30-pin port, to the new iPhone. It is a move that will surely send shocks through the iPhone accessory ecosystem.

If this is indeed true and the next generation iPhone will spout a much smaller dock connector, it is even more likely we will see a radically redesigned or at the least a much thinner iPhone announced by Apple in the coming months. And considering the information comes from three independent manufactures, we can label this rumor as confirmed with little doubt otherwise.
