iPhone 5 May Have Water Blocking Technology From HzO
Last week, we told you about the amazing Liquipel waterproofing technology that helps smartphones to be completely resistant to spills or dives in deep water. The Liquipel waterproof coating is applied on the outside of the phone and even though you cannot see it, it’s there. It is very effective too, but sending your phone to them and waiting for over 3 days to get it back with the coating doesn’t sound so good.

Here’s another new water resistant technology, which was showcased at CES and works in a different way. The company is called HzO and it calls its technology as WaterBlock, which adds a protective layer to the inside hardware of the device rather than the exterior. Thus, the coating must be applied during the manufacturing process, which is better than sending your phone after already having purchased it.
A company representative from HzO, told Pocket-lint that they have been in talks with Apple to put this technology in the iPhone 5 and that most other companies will adopt it in next gen smartphones. We’re not sure and we cannot guarantee that this is entirely accurate information, because Apple simply doesn’t accept new technology without giving it much thought. But, it would be awesome if the iPhone 5 and the iPad 3 did come with an internal WaterBlock coating from HzO.
It’s not just Apple products that may have this technology, but other manufacturers like Samsung are also looking into it. In fact, HzO stated;
We showed the Samsung Chairman the technology with a Samsung Galaxy S that we had coated with HZO and he couldn’t believe his eyes. Samsung is really excited by the tech.
Waterproof technology could be very useful to those who unintentionally drop their mobile devices into sinks, pools etc. Water damage can leave your device completely useless, so it’s better to prevent it.
What do you think of this amazing WaterBlock technology? Would you go for Liquipel or HzO? Let us know in the comments..
