Apple is amping up their competition with other mobile gaming platforms by adding a “XBOX Live” type of experience called GameCenter. Acheivments, social networking, leaderboards, matchmaking, invite friends. So cool! It’s what I’ve thought my iPhone gaming experience was missing!
Although GameCenter should be included in iOS 4, it’s only available in developers releases. Now that Comex released jailbreakme.com, iPhone 4 and iOS 4 users can jailbreak their iDevices regardless old or new bootrom. This guide will show you how to install GameCenter on your iPhone running iOS 4.x.x.
Requirements:
- iPhone running iOS 4.x.x and jailbroken (Click here for our tutorial)
- SFTP, FTP browser (CuteFTP, Transmit, CyberDuck)
- OpenSSH installed on iPhone (Available in Cydia)
- GameCenter.app (http://t.co/Hkn8rbJ)
How to install:
1. Launch SFTP browser (I’m using Transmit for Mac).
2. Connect to your iPhone, entering “User Name” and “Password”.
3. Navigate to /private/var/stash/Applications.
4. Transfer GameCenter.app into the Applications folder.
5. Change permissions to 0755.
6. Respring iPhone.
7. Enjoy!
Note: There are no games compatible with GameCenter yet.
