A new pair of completely redesigned Apple earphones for the next-generation iPhone? We weren’t expecting this to happen, but according to MacRumors the Vietnamese website Tinhte.vn says it will. Apparently, they’ve managed to get their hands on a brand new redesigned pair of Apple earphones, which they claim will be part of the next-generation iPhone and iPod package.
Apple earphones haven’t evolved much, of course, they’ve gotten better in sound quality, but the design has mostly remained the same since for as long as I can remember. These new earphones, according to Tinhte.vn, are completely redesigned and feel very authentic. According to them, the sound quality is improved, they don’t hurt your ear anymore and it feels and looks like a genuine Apple product. There’s a video below, which showcases this new pair of earphones and compares them with the current generation Apple earphones.
Here’s the transcript for that video in case it becomes unavailable to watch:
In my hands are the new earphones for the iPhone 5 that is about to come out – Apple’s next generation of iPod [sic]. These will replace the current earphones that are on the market. These are manufactured at Phax Co factory in Vietnam. They have the appearance of a horse’s head, not like earbuds. When they are worn, they have a much smaller profile. They have the appearance of a fully integrated, single unit – there’s no part that looks like it would come apart – not like earbuds; the integrated design is characteristic of Apple products. Here I have the old earphones for comparison. The new ones are much smaller; when they are worn, they do not hurt the way earbuds do. You can see on the old ones the surface is a separate part that looks like it can be detached – not like the small surface of the new one. The old earphones were mostly made in China, with some in Vietnam. But the new ones are clearly made in Vietnam. (Reading from the wires): “Designed by Apple in California, assembled in Vietnam.”
I must say, I wouldn’t mind these earphones, they look like they’d fit in to the ear perfectly and have great sound quality. It also looks like the headphones feature good noise cancellation.
The earphones also have ‘Designed by Apple in California. Assembled in Vietnam‘ written on the cable. The website claims that Apple is producing the new earphones in a Foxconn factory in Vietnam.
We’re not sure what to make of this, but Tinhte.vn has been right in the past and have gotten hold of prototype and pre-release Apple products. What do you make of the new earphones? Like them? Let us know in the comments.
