A few days ago, a Chinese newspaper reported that Apple is working on a new iPhone with a larger 4.8-inch display. The new iPhone is apparently known as the iPhone Math, which is super weird. It’s probably a prototype name, or the authors of the post may have misheard the information. If Apple actually releases a new iPhone with a 4.8-inch display with a similar design as the iPhone 5, this is what it would look like.
4.8-inch pretty much comes in the ‘Phablet’ category, meaning devices with 5-inch displays or bigger. The Samsung Galaxy Note is a good example and has seen quite some success in the recent years. The iPhone 5 has a screen size of 4 inches, but more and more smartphones are now coming with displays larger than 4 inches. At a time like this, Apple could actually benefit with a 4.8-inch iPhone, though it is highly unlikely. Just to see what a 4.8-inch iPhone would look like, the folks at AppleDigger.ru created a mockup video.
The concept video shows that the iPhone will, once again, add another set of rows, increasing the number of rows to 6. A 12 megapixel camera has also been shown, which actually goes against the rumors. The rumors suggested that the larger 4.8-inch iPhone will come with an 8 megapixel camera. Also, the iPhone Math could have newer colors, instead of the now boring Black or White. Overall, it would look exactly like the iPhone 5 with a larger display.
It looks good doesn’t it? I wouldn’t mind an iPhone with a 4.2 or 4.5-inch display, but anything more than that and I’d have trouble using it with one hand. I’m sure you would too. What do you think of the 4.8-inch iPhone?
