Well folks Apple has just just seeded the fourth beta version of iOS 5, build 9A5274d, to developers.
This new beta version of the iOS 5 firmware will obviously make the iOS 5 firmware much more stable and also fix bugs present in the iOS 5 beta 3 firmware. In terms of new functionality present in the iOS 5 beta 4 firmware, however, nothing substantial is known yet. We will need to wait until developers actually have a chance to test out the iOS 5 beta 4 firmware in the next coming hours.
Update: One key difference between other beta firmwares though is the ability for users to update their iDevice from the iOS 5 beta 3 firmware to the iOS 5 beta 4 firmware Over-The-Air. Meaning if you go into the new Software Update tab in the settings.app (running iOS 5 beta 3) you will be able to update over-the-air. If you do decide to update to the iOS 5 beta 4 firmware over-the-air you will loose your photos and a physical re-sync will be required.
Update 2: It appears many users are getting this error: “Unable to Check for Update. An error occurred while checking for software updates.” Thanks MorningZ.
We will keep you update if anything new surfaces in the iOS 5 beta 4 firmware update. Until that time please stay tuned…
Note: At this time the Apple TV 2G was left out in this update.
