Siri Is Now Functioning On The iPhone 4 [Public Release Planned]

On October 18, 2011, by Jaden

A developer who goes by the name of @Jackoplane on Twitter has recently made some publicity on his work porting Siri to the iPhone 4. While we mentioned numerous times that developer Steven Troughton-Smith managed to get Siri semi-functioning on the iPhone 4, it looks like Jack has managed to get Siri fully functioning on the iPhone 4.

The news comes from @Gojohnnyboi (John Heaton ) who tweeted today that the Jailbreaking Community (meaning the developers of the Jailbreaking Community) have Siri fully functioning on the iPhone 4. After the news was broken by John, developer Jack posted an F.A.Q about this fully functional port of Siri over Twitter which you can see below…

If you read the F.A.Q you will realize that Siri for the iPhone 4 is expected to come to all iDevices running the iOS 5 firmware. More importantly it has been noted that this port of Siri will eventually be released to the public. For all of you wondering, you will not need to Jailbreak your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad to get Siri on it. Jack mentions that you use a program called NSFileManager. Additionally, for all of you who are looking for proof, Jack has mentioned that a video of Siri fully functioning on the iPhone 4 will be uploaded to YouTube soon.

We will keep you updated on the progress of Siri bring ported to the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad. Until that time please stay tuned…

  • iLuviPhones

I believe the guy is faking. He hasnt uploaded a video yet inspite saying he will again and again during last 30 hours.

  • iNeedSiriOniOS4oniPhone4

This is useless to me if its only going tto be on iOS 5

Assuming this is real, I hope that his work forces Apple to explain that withholding Siri from iOS 5 users is simply for marketing/business purpose and nothing technical as they have stated so far. Perhaps iOS 5.x will suddenly offer the Siri feature after the first wave of iPhone 4S sales bring in enough numbers to quell investors… Ugh.

  • roadcarver

I’ll believe it when I see and hear Siri on my iPhone 4 :)

This guy is full of it and milking it for money.

seriously? of course apple did it for marketing/business purposes. Why else would you buy an iPhone 4S? Why do you think Apple’s stock is so high? Because they know what they’re doing.

Siri may work on an iPhone 4, but it won’t work well, as it will be terribly sluggish. Only the iPhone 4S and iPad 2 have the required GPU to make Siri sing.

  • Dan Negura

Ok and when and how cani get it too???

  • Andy&Alex

he didnot make it :D , Ithink

  • JMB

If you go on his twitter, it specifically says:
Jackoplane Jack ’Okay, so many blogs are getting this wrong, you DO need a jailbreak for Siri. I currently don’t have a JB to get the info I need from the 4S’So the above comment about ‘ you will not need to Jailbreak your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad to get Siri on it’ is wrong.

  • Someone

    So why aren’t you updating?

  • Goonsquadstl

False. It won’t be sluggish. YouTube it.

  • Copout

Yes….when can we get this working ??

Yeah, beacause recording a message, sending it to apple servers to analyse, getting the instructions back and running text to speech software that has been around for 20 years requires real processing power!

Anything that can run on the iphone 4S can also run on the iphone 4. It’s basically the same phone. Just because it’s so called “dual-core” processor seems to be a tad faster means nothing. The only thing that would stop siri running on an iphone 4 would be RAM and sadly the iphone 4S has 512 just like the  ol’ iphone 4. The new iphone really isnt any different dispite it 20% fast cores and it 8MP camera. The iphone 4S is nothing but an Apple Marketing Stragitey used in the same way Microsoft use Vista, than came out with Windows 7. Sadly, Iphone 4S is Apples “Vista”. It’s more than possible to run Siri on Iphone 4.
