Purported iPad Mini Battery Photos Leaked, Has 16.7 Watt-Hour Capacity
In the last few weeks a lot of purported iPad Mini parts have been surfacing online. We’ve seen plenty of mockups, housings, displays and other parts that claim to belong to the iPad Mini. Apple is rumored to unveil the device at a special event on October 23rd. In fact, several big sites like AllThingsD and Reuters have confirmed this.
New photos of a purported iPad Mini battery surfaced earlier today and MacRumors has posted them. According to the photos, the claimed battery is labelled ‘A1445′ and has an Apple part number ’616-0641′. Other specifications include 3.72 volts, 16.7 Watt-hour of energy and 4490 mAh of charge. The battery does seem to match the size of the iPad Mini and has Apple-esque markings on it. Still, we can’t be sure of anything.
In comparison, the iPhone 5 battery is rated at 5.45 watt-hours and the iPad 2 at 25 watt-hours, which places the supposed iPad Mini battery somewhere between them. That might very well be the case, as the iPad Mini will probably not have high-end hardware. We’ll find on October 23rd, if all these reports are true.
