Just over a week ago the iPad 4th generation was sold out through Apple’s online store, and displayed a 1 week shipping delay notice. Today it looks like Apple has caught up with the demand for the 4th generation iPad as the availability status has changed to “In Stock.”

Personally I was surprised when Apple’s 4th generation iPad sold out of its initial launch day stock because the tablet was released only 7 months after the 3rd generation iPad. I think it is a safe bet however, that the demand for the 4th generation iPad stemmed mostly from those still in possession of the original or second generation iPad.
