When RedSn0w 0.9.6RC14 was released for an untethered iOS 4.3.2 jailbreak the only iDevice left out of this untethered jailbreak was the Verizon iPhone. If you currently have a tethered jailbreak on the iOS 4.2.7 firmware and would like to untether your jailbreak, you will be glad to know you now have a couple options. iH8Sn0w recently released an updated version of Sn0wbreeze (version 2.6.1) that supports jailbreaking the iOS 4.2.7 firmware untethered (WINDOWS only) and iH8Sn0w has also partnered with @PUSHFIX to create a Cydia package jailbreak.
Therefore, you have two options for jailbreaking your Verizon iPhone 4 running the iOS 4.2.7 firmware untethered:
- Use Sn0wbreeze 2.6.1 (requires a restore)
- Or first Jailbreak with RedSn0w 0.9.6RC14 then install iH8Sn0w’s/PushFix’s Cydia package untethered jailbreak
If you would prefer to jailbreak with Sn0wbreeze 2.6.1 you can click here to download it, and also follow our step-by-step guide to using Sn0wbreeze by clicking here (make sure you select the iOS 4.2.7 firmware instead of the iOS 4.3.2 firmware).
If you would prefer to jailbreak your Verizon iPhone 4 using iH8Sn0w’s Cydia package jailbreak. You will need to first jailbreak your iPhone tethered by using RedSn0w 0.9.6RC14, then add the following source below (Manage > Sources > Edit > Add):
Once you add the source shown above you can install the Verizon Untether for iOS 4.2.7 package from Cydia, restart your iPhone, and you will now have an untethered iOS 4.2.7 jailbreak.
