So Geohot released his Limera1n tool that supposedly jailbreak’s all current iDevices, but from the people who’ve tried it, there’s still a few bugs that are being worked on. What about unlocking the iPhone after the jailbreak? Is it possible?
The answer is NO!
Ultrasn0w, which is basically the package downloaded through Cydia hasn’t been updated to iOS 4.1 firmware yet.
This means you can’t unlock your iPhone for the time being and there’s no estimated time of arrival to when it’ll be released.
So if you want to use your iPhone as an iPod touch for a few days, go ahead and jailbreak. If you rely on using your iPhone as a phone, DON’T update to iOS 4.1 (for now).
On the other hand, if you’ve got an iPod Touch, feel free to jailbreak. I must warn you that the tool Limera1n is not yet perfect and still has a few bugs. I’d advise you to wait a few more hours (or days, depending upon what the iPhone Dev-Team decide) and wait for Greenpois0n tool to be released which will jailbreak all 4th generation iDevices and the iPad.
Have a happy *Jailbreaking* October!
