Grant Paul announced on Twitter today that there are big releases coming soon for several of his tweaks. He did not specify which tweaks would be getting an overhaul, but mentioned that the updates would include “complete, from-scratch rewrites for performance, stability, and more easily adding features.”
Paul, also known as Chpwn, is the developer behind several interface tweaks including Zephyr, Infinidock, Infiniboard, Infinifolders, ProSwitcher, VoiceActivator, Spire and Gridlock. Paul has also contributed to Cydia (though he clarified by tweet that Cydia will not be getting a rewrite in the near future), and has produced a day one proof-of-concept failbreak for the iPhone 5.
We’ll most likely see support for the paid tweaks (Zephyr, Infiniapps, VoiceActivator, and Gridlock), as these apps get the most attention from the developer. Chpwn has abandoned Spire since iOS 5.1, with no future development, ruling out an enhanced version of the Siri port.
From the wording of Grant Paul posts, these initial rewrites and changes will most likely be “under the hood” improvements that we won’t notice, but the developer caught our attention with the phrase “more easily adding features.”
