Amazon’s Elastic Compute Cloud (aka Amazon EC2) service has been experiencing a massive outage since 4/21/2011, and while most sites that rely on EC2 are back up and running there are still some sites that are being affected. One of the affected sites that pertains to the jailbreak community is Cydia.

Cydia relies on the Amazon EC2 service to perform various tasks such as run Cydia’s main site, handle user purchases, and other tasks. Since the EC2 servers that Cydia relies on to run are still experience service issues, Cydia is virtually shut down.

In a tweet from Cydia founder Saurik on 4/21/2011 he confirmed that Cydia was being affected by the EC2 outage via Twitter:

As Amazon works to completely end the outage and bring their EC2 services back online, Cydia will remain (for the most part) down.
