Have you ever heard of the TurboGrafx-16 game console? If you answered no, you were in the same boat as us! In fact I even had to do a little research before I wrote this post. Any how, the TurboGrafx-16 game console was actually a big hit in Japan and was  released on October 30th, 1987 and then it was released in North America on August 29th, 1989. If you are a tech minded person this console featured an 8-bit CPU and a dual 16-bit GPU; furthermore, it is capable of displaying 482 colors at once out of 512. Why do you care about this now ancient game console? Well it turns out that a developer who goes by the name of Robert Broglia has released an emulator of this game console for the iOS firmware. If you are one of those iPhone users who enjoy emulating games you may want to check this new emulator out.

Apparently this emulator runs at about 60fps on an iPhone 4, and as long as you have a newer iDevice it should run very smooth! While the emulator itself does not come with any ROMS, you can easily find some available through the magic of Google. Some game titles for the turbografx-16 game console include:

  • Bomberman
  • SplatterHouse
  • Falcon
  • Knight Rider Special
  • And many more

If you are interested in this game console it is available through Cydia for a price of $3.99! While this may seem on the pricier side, remember that technically you are getting a full game console for under $4. If you try this turbografx-16 emulator, let us know your thoughts.
