Instagram has just sent out physical invitations via FedEx to members of the press to an upcoming event next Thursday where the Facebook owned company will announce something new regarding the platform.
The invitation itself pictured below doesn’t allude to anything specific and simple has the Instagram logo and a short message inviting select individuals to “share a moment” on December 12 in Midtown Manhattan, New York City, at 10am EST / 7am Pacific Time.
The invitation reads “You are invited to share a moment with Kevin Systrom and the Instagram team.” And for those of you who don’t know Keven is Instagram’s co-founder and CEO.
So just what does Instagram have up its sleeve?
A number of things are currently being rumoured.
The service did just launch the very first ads, but a press conference around ads would be absurd so this won’t be the focus.
Another possibility is to discuss private messaging on Instagram, but again it is hard to believe Instagram would hold a press conference just to talk about messaging.
As such CNET’s prediction seems the most believable in my mind that the invitation itself may suggest “a service that would allow users to print their photos.”
