Infinity Blade: Dungeons Won’t Release Alongside Apple’s Event, Not Coming Until 2013
For those of you hoping that Infinity Blade: Dungeons will be released alongside Apple’s October 23rd Keynote, we have bad news. The release for the Infinity Blade Prequel has been pushed back. A representative from Epic Games told AllThingsD not to expect the new game to ship until next year: “The logistics of a new studio and implementing all these great ideas required a little extra time, so Infinity Blade: Dungeons will hit iOS in 2013.”
Infinity Blade: Dungeons is a departure from the series. Set before it’s namesake blade was forged, Dungeons looks to be deviation from the series as a traditional top-down Action/RPG dungeon crawl. There will still be swipe-based attacks, but it looks more like a Diablo clone than the mashup of Fruit Ninja and Punch-Out! with RPG elements that we’ve come to enjoy. This time there will be crafting and possible support for control pads. We’ll see in time if Dungeons can live up to Infinity Blade’s success.
Considering Infinity Blade started off as a simple iOS game that originally featured one named character, the series has developed a rich and complicated mythology. (In part thanks to the efforts of Brandon Sanderson’s novel Infinity Blade Awakening.)

I’m no blacksmith, but I’m pretty sure that’s a hammer. Blades tend to be pointier.
Unfortunately there aren’t further details about Infinity Blade: Dungeons’ release. Hopefully “a little extra time” means early 2013.
