iOS apps Facebook Messenger, Twitter, Asphalt 7: Heat, Skype and eBay have received new updates giving them new features and plenty of bug fixes.
Facebook Messenger received new updates for group messaging, Twitter gets improved search, Asphalt 7: Heat gets new cars and events, Skype now provides a beautiful calling experience and eBay gets a new and easy to use Checkout system.
Facebook has updated its Messenger app for iOS and has given it a few improvements in group messaging. In version 2.3 of Facebook Messenger, you can name a group directly from the top of your conversation. Just swipe left and you can view all your group conversations.
You can use the group name or friends present in a group to search for conversations. That’s all the new things you get in group messaging. Also included are various improvements and bug fixes. It is of course available for free in the App Store.

Twitter for iOS receives plenty of new enhancements to search, which means that your search results for tweets, users etc. have also gotten better. In version 5.4, when you search for a keyword, you’ll see plenty of related topics and suggestions in real time. These enhancements are also shown when composing a new tweet with an username or hashtag.
Popular tweets will now show up when you search for a keyword, opening a web page will show related tweets and longer conversations including all the replies are shown in the tweet details view. Here’s the remaining list of improvements:
• When you block a user in the app, their Tweets will instantly disappear from the Connect tab in the app
• Pull-to-refresh in Discover shows a new, smoother animation
• Support for traditional Chinese
• Logout support (iOS 6 only)
• Uploading videos vie Mobypicture, Vodpod and Posterous is no longer supported
• Additional bug fixes and improvements

Gameloft’s Asphalt 7: Heat gets new cars and events in the latest update to version 1.0.8. Two new cars, the Marussia B2 and the Plymouth Prowler have been added to the growing list of cars.
You also get to race 7 new limited-time events, which naturally means more fun. Gameloft has also put up a sale on some of its other titles such as Wild Blood, Assassin’s Creed and more. Asphalt 7: Heat is available in the App Store for $0.99.

Microsoft has seeded another new update to Skype for iPhone and iPad, bringing a new ‘beautiful calling experience’ and much more. The app previously received an update where it would automatically reconnect dropped calls due to a bad WiFi or cellular connection.
In version 4.6 of Skype, the one-on-one chats appear in the correct order and you can mark your conversations as ‘read’ more easily. Apart from that, there’s the usual set of improvements and bug fixes. The full list of bug fixes can be found here. The update is available in the App Store, free of cost.

Finally, eBay’s iOS app has received a much simpler and streamlined checkout flow that makes paying for things fast and easy.
It’s a small update, but a useful one. Version 2.8.0 of eBay is available in the App Store for free.
