Could Spirit – A Fully Untethered Jailbreak for all Devices be Released Tommorow?

If you read my last couple of posts on the new Spirit Jailbreaking program, then you would of known that I said the dev-team was most likely saving this new tool for the new 4th generation devices in June. Well it appears as if I am wrong and this new Spirit Jailbreaking program could be coming out as early as tomorrow.  Now before you get too excited this release date is just an ETA; meaning that it is an estimated release date. There could be a couple of things delaying the actual release of the program.

If you remember the Spirit Jailbreaking program will also be able to jailbreak the iPad. As being able to jailbreak the iPad there will be a couple of compatibility problems, such as Cydia compatibility with the iPad, and also application compatibility with the 3.2 firmware. We do not know for sure whether or not these problems will be fixed in time for tomorrow and we will just have to wait and see. If you look at the picture below you can see the dev-team has gotten SB settings  to work on the iPad.

As you can see there is a lot to look forward to in this new jailbreaking program. There is however been a lot of confusion on what the Spirit jailbreaking program actually is and how it works. Lets clarify what the Spirit Jailbreaking program actually is:

  • Spirit is an untethered jailbreaking tool for all iDevices and  works on latest firmware ( 3.1.3 for iPhone/iTouch and 3.2 for the iPad )
  • Spirit is NOT an unlock tool and we do not know when an unlock for the 3.1.3 firmware will be released
  • Spirit doesn’t work out of a browser, and has nothing to do with pwn2own

As you can see the Spirit jailbreaking program will be just like any other jailbreaking program but it will support all the iDevices and best of all it will be untethered. The only thing that may be surprising to some people is the fact that it is not a browser jailbreak. Originally we thought the Spirit jailbreak was going to be a browser based jailbreak but it turns out the message of the program got misinterpreted along the way. Overall the program is going to be great and I think I can speak for all of us when I say the Spirit jailbreak cannot come soon enough. What are your thoughts on the new Spirit Jailbreaking tool?
