Rovio’s New Angry Birds Toons Will Be Distributed Through Angry Birds Apps And Will Air On Select TV Networks
Near the end of February we told you that Rovio would be airing a brand new Angry Birds cartoon series on the weekend of March 16th and 17th. Until this time details have been scarce on the cartoon series, but today Rovio has published a press release with some more information.
According to the press release the new cartoon series will be airing directly through the Angry Birds app, as well as on select TV networks around the world. Mikael Hed, CEO of Rovio, said “We’ve long wanted to tell our fans the story of the Angry Birds and the Bad Piggies, to introduce their personalities and their world in detail. We’re delighted to introduce all this through our new channel, with easy and instant access to the stories in the palm of your hand. With over 1.7 billion downloads, we can reach a far wider and more engaged global audience than traditional distribution would allow. Launching the channel, and partnering up with some of the best video-on-demand providers and TV networks, is an important milestone for us on our journey towards becoming a fully fledged entertainment powerhouse.”
Apparently there is 52 episodes of Angry Birds Toons and a new episode will be released each week, starting arch 16th on TV broadcast and March 17th in all Angry Birds apps and on video-on-demand platforms. “We want to combine the feel of cartoon classics with modern twists on an unprecedented scale. Our team has been working tremendously hard to once again delight our fans with a new way to experience these loveable characters”, said Nick Dorra, Head of Animation at Rovio.
On March 17th you will be able to watch the first Angry Birds Toons episode by launching an Angry Birds app and tapping on the new Channel button that will appear in the game homescreen. It is important to note though, that you must be running the latest version, otherwise the button will not appear.
