Twitter has been recently updated to include a brand new user-interface, and some new features as well. This re-design of the Twitter applies to the web user-interface and also the companies iOS apps and Android apps.

In general, the biggest thing that has changed is the overall feel of Twitter. With this new 2011 Twitter re-design things feel a lot cleaner and much more polished. In the iOS and Android Twitter applications, a new tab system has been implement that features some name changes. For those of you wondering, the tabbed navigation is now setup as Home, Connect Discover and Me (you can get a quick overview of each tab below).

  • Home Tab: The home tab is fairly similar to the original design of the Twitter app with a cleaner feel. All new tweets will be shown in the Home tab, with the ability for you to compose your own tweet, re-tweet etc.
  • Connect: The connect tab puts a focus on getting you more involved with your followers. It allows you to view recent followers, mentions and other information such as people who have favorited your tweets.
  • Discover: A new focus in this re-design of Twitter is finding information you otherwise may not have known. That is why the discover tab will share with you the latest trends, recommend people to follow and it also allows you to search a hashtag or keyword .
  • Me: The Me tab allows you to view statistics about your account, view direct messages and other account specific settings.

Rather describing every little difference in this 2011 Twitter re-design we suggest that you check it out for yourself and download the update from the AppStore/Android Market. Let us know what you think of the new Twitter re-design in the comments section below…
