The US version of Sony’s Xperia S, the Xperia Ion, was first unveiled back in January at CES. It was set for a second quarter of 2012 release date, and it appears that it’ll actually be on time. According to a Google ad spotted by Droid Matters, the Sony Xperia Ion will be coming to AT&T sometime next month.
Although it’s rumored that it will ship with the dated Android Gingerbread, Sony has promised ICS updates and has actually already begun rolling out the Android 4.0 update to some handsets. Other than the old software (which should be fixed soon), the phone has some pretty impressive specs including a 4.6-inch HD screen, a 1.5 dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM and a nice 12-megapixel rear camera.
The price and exact release date are still unknown at the moment but we’ll keep you posted as we learn more info.
Will you be getting your hands on the new Xperia phone?
