The long rumored Facebook phone may soon become a reality. The social networking giant has already sent out invitations to ta media for an Android related press conference happening on April 4th. We’ve been hearing about a HTC branded Facebook phone for quite some time now and it looks like the company will be finally unveiling a smartphone during the event.
Apparently, the HTC smartphone will be running on a custom build of Android with a Facebook skin or ‘Facebook Home’. This means that you can access Facebook, send voice messages, make video calls and be in touch with everyone from anywhere on the phone. Now, leaked images of an HTC smartphone named ‘First’ have been posted online by @evleaks(1) with some hardware specs.
The HTC First will run Android, but will be heavily skinned with Facebook Home, a new homescreen for Android that will be announced tomorrow. From the renders, the device looks a lot like an iPod Touch and according to various sources, the device will be available for a dirt cheap price when launched.
Rumored specs include a 720p 4.3-inch display, dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and a 5 megapixel camera at the back. There appears to be a front camera as well and another set of renders posted by 9to5Google also reveal that the device will be available in more than one color.
This isn’t HTC’s first Facebook integrated phone. Previously, the company had launched two Android devices that came with a dedicated Facebook button. The Facebook event is tomorrow and we will know for sure if the HTC First is the real Facebook phone.
