Yesterday the HTC First was leaked into the wild and sure enough at today’s Facebook event, HTC’s CEO Peter Chou was present to talk about the new HTC First smartphone that would run Facebook Home out of the box.
Chou described the HTC First as the “ultimate social phone” and it will be powered by Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. It comes in 4 colors that include matte black, white. red or pale blue and features a 4.3-inch screen along with 4G LTE connectivity. It will be powered by a dual-core Snapdragon 400 processor and will be available for $99 with a 2 year contract through AT&T on April 12th.
From the initial impressions with the specs of the handset it will be a midrange smartphone, which will probably be hard to justify getting over some of HTC’s other flagship devices unless you are on a budget. In fact, neither AT&T’s or HTC’s CEO could provide compelling reasons to purchase the device, besides a little better integration with notifications than if you just installed Facebook Home.
If you are interested in the HTC First it can actually be pre-ordered right now, and as mentioned previously will be available April 12th on AT&T in the US. For more information about the HTC First and Facebook Home click here.
